Book A CITB Touch Screen Test

The CITB Health, Safety and Environment test (HS&E test), often referred to as the CITB touch screen test or CSCS touch screen test, is an essential part of obtaining your CSCS Green Labourer Card.

You'll need to pass an approved qualification, CITB Health and Safety Awareness or IOSH Working Safely for example, before applying for a CSCS Labourer Card.

You’ll also need to book a CITB HS&E test if you’re applying for a CPCS or CISRS card.

Information about where to find HS&E test centeres and how to book a CITB touch screen test can be found here: https://www.citb.co.uk/cards-testing/booking-test with different processes for individuals and group bookings.

HS&E Test Prices

All HS&E tests are fixed at a cost of £19.50. If you’re being charged more then you need to question what the additional cost is for.

A Health, Safety and Environment Test Voucher can be purchased directly from CITB and used to pay for the test on the day at the test centre but this isn't essential as you can pay online at the time of booking the test.

HS&E Test Duration

All tests are 45 minutes in length and have 50 multiple-choice questions.

HS&E Test Questions

All tests cover the five core knowledge sections (as well as behavioural case study questions):

  • Legal and management
  • Health and welfare
  • General safety
  • High risk activities
  • Environment

There are different HS&E tests available and you should check which test is appropriate for the qualification or card scheme you’re applying for:
