Overview of the SMSTS Refresher Course

Aiming to provide the most up-to-date health and safety knowledge, the two-day CITB SMSTS Refresher course (SMSTS-R) gives a thorough overview of recent legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. Perfect for anyone with accountability for site safety, health and welfare, it can be delivered either as an open course or as a dedicated onsite session.

Who is the SMSTS Refresher Course for?

This course is for those who have previously passed the full five-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course and can provide a valid and in-date CITB SMSTS certificate.

What you'll learn on our SMSTS Refresher Course

  • What you need to know about recent changes to Health and Safety law, and updates on new regulations in the construction industry
  • What the latest HSE guidance and initiatives and changes to Approved Codes of Practice (ACoP) mean for you and your site
  • The most up-to-date information on accident statistics, costs of accidents, causes, and management responsibilities and methods of prevention.
  • Methods for motivating the workforce towards safety behaviours and how to manage effective tool box talks and site inductions

Assessments

You will be continually assessed throughout the course, and be expected to participate in a number of group exercises. There will also be a formal multiple choice assessment at the end of the course. Full attendance is mandatory.

Accreditation & Certificates

The accrediting body is the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). On successful completion of the course, you will receive the CITB SMSTS Refresher certificate, which is valid for a further five years.

Duration

2 days. Some of our courses run during the week and some at weekends.
