About EUSR SHEA (Gas) Course

The Utility SHEA (Gas) course is part of the Utility Safety Health and Environment Awareness (SHEA) portfolio of schemes with the purpose of providing a standard approach to health, safety and environmental awareness training across the utilities sector, in line with Health and Safety Executive guidelines.

Who is the Utility SHEA (Gas) Passport for?

The EUSR SHEA Gas Passport is for anyone (including operatives, supervisors and management) involved in the operational activities of the gas industry who require access to construction sites for utility work.

The course does not require any previous experience or skill level.

Course Content

The Utility SHEA (Gas) course includes 12 modules:

  • Eight core modules, common to all utility industries (health, safety and environmental law and practices)
  • Four Gas industry specific modules:
    • Working on the gas network
    • Pressure regulating installation
    • Domestic premises
    • Commercial premises

Course Duration

The Utility SHEA (Gas) Passport lasts for five years from the date of training.

Certification and EUSR Cards

After successful completion of EUSR SHEA Gas training and assessment, a EUSR Card will be issued, usually within 28 days of receipt of the required paperwork and payment.

EUSR Cards are affiliated with CSCS so EUSR Card holders do not need to apply for a separate CSCS card to gain access to construction sites for utility work.
