The CISRS Operative Training Scheme is for candidates who are new to the scaffolding wishing to start a career within the scaffolding industry.
Candidates wishing to attend this COTS course will need to have passed the CITB HS&E (touchscreen) test within the past 2 years, i.e. before attending the course.
As there is no COTS refresher course, existing CISRS Scaffolding Labourer Card holders will need to take this COTS course every 5 years to remain current and valid.
This course offers an introduction to working safely with scaffolding, including general site safety and manual handling.
It will also keep current CISRS Scaffolding Labourer Card holders up-to-date with the latest best practices and legislation.
To obtain a CISRS Scaffolding Labourer Card or CISRS Trainee Scaffolder Card, you will need to complete this course by passing both the written exam and practical assessment.
Successful candidates will receive a CISRS COTS Certificate of training.
As long as you have passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test within the past 2 years, you can apply for your CISRS Scaffolding Labourer Card or CISRS Trainee Scaffolder Card to be updated with an acknowledgement of passing the COTS training course.
CISRS Trainee Scaffolder Cards need to be renewed within 18 months.
After 6 months of passing a COTS course, you can progress onto attending the CISRS Scaffolding Part 1 training course.
All COTS training courses last for 1 day.
